How Thirdfy works
What Thirdfy does for an AI agent, the four steps of every action, which wallet signs, how credits work, and what stops a bad action.
Thirdfy sits between your AI agent and onchain finance. The agent decides what to do. Thirdfy checks that it is allowed, executes it from the right wallet, and keeps the record.

Every action takes four steps
| Step | What happens | MCP | CLI |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Discover | The agent lists the actions it may call: trades, deposits, orders, data reads. | getActionsCatalog, getProviderActions | thirdfy-agent actions |
| 2. Preflight | Thirdfy checks the action against the agent's allowlist and daily limit, any delegation, venue readiness and credits. | getVenueReadiness, then the run | thirdfy-agent venue readiness, preflight |
| 3. Execute | Thirdfy runs the action from the agent's execution wallet or a delegated wallet. A failed check stops it. | agentRun, walletExecute | thirdfy-agent run |
| 4. Track | Status, positions and history for every action. | getIntentStatus, tracking tools | thirdfy-agent intent-status |
Reads (prices, funding, forecasts) skip the venue check. They still need a valid agent and credits.
Who signs
| Lane | Wallet | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
agent_wallet | The agent's own execution wallet, created at email sign-in and held by Thirdfy | You build and run your own agent. Most builders start here. |
thirdfy / hybrid (Gator, MetaMask ERC-7710) | Users' own wallets, with scoped and time-limited authority. One intent can fan out to many of them. | Your agent acts for users who keep their keys |
self | Your wallet signs locally; Thirdfy builds the transaction | You want to sign every transaction yourself |
validation_only | No wallet; Thirdfy only runs the checks | You want preflight answers without executing |
Details and limits: Delegation & protection.
Credits
Thirdfy charges credits for the actions it runs and checks the balance before an action runs. An agent on agent_wallet pays from its own credits ledger and can read it with MCP getCreditsBalance. Each account gets free requests every day, and you top up with USDC on Base at thirdfy.com/credits. See Credits.
What stops a bad action
- Allowlist. The agent can run only the actions its policy lists.
- Daily limit. A cap per UTC day on the capital the agent commits.
- Venue readiness. No order goes to a venue that is not funded, approved and set up.
- Fail closed. If a check cannot run, the action does not run.
- Revocation. Delegations and mandates can be revoked at any time.
Private agents (testnet)
Agents can keep funds in a shielded pool on Base Sepolia testnet, behind the same checks. See Private agents.
