Delegation

What delegation means in Thirdfy Console, how to set it up, and what it enables for Command and automations.

Delegation is how you let Thirdfy act on your wallet within limits you approve. You keep custody of your keys. Thirdfy validates every write before anything executes.

Open the Delegations tab at thirdfy.com/console/delegations.

What delegation means

When you delegate in Console:

  1. You approve scoped authority for Command or an automation to execute on your behalf.
  2. Thirdfy validates every intent before execution. Only compliant actions reach your wallet.
  3. Your execution balance pays for usage. Command and automations bill like any other paid turn. See Credits and balance.
  4. Thirdfy does not hold your keys. You sign a delegation grant from your wallet. Thirdfy enforces policy on top of that grant.

Delegation is permission. Policy checks on each action are verification. Both are required for writes.

What works without delegation

These reads work as soon as you connect a wallet:

  • Balances and positions across Base, Hyperliquid, Lighter, and Polymarket
  • Quotes, venue readiness, and setup guidance in Command
  • Help Hub prompts that only fetch data

You do not need delegation to explore Console or ask Command what it can do.

What requires delegation

These writes need an active delegation:

  • Swaps, bridges, and transfers on Base
  • Venue setup steps that change wallet or API state
  • Automations that suggest or execute rebalances within approved caps
  • Any Command action that would sign or broadcast on your behalf

If delegation is missing or expired, Command explains the blocker and points you to the Delegations tab.

How to set up delegation

  1. Sign in at thirdfy.com/console and connect your wallet.
  2. Open Delegations or follow the setup prompt in Command.
  3. Review the mandate: what actions are allowed, on which chain, and for how long.
  4. Sign the delegation grant in your wallet (MetaMask or another supported wallet). This is a wallet signature request, not an on-chain transaction by itself.
  5. Confirm status shows active in Delegations before you retry a write in Command.

Command can walk you through the same flow in chat. The Delegations tab is the durable place to check status later.

Embedded wallet vs external wallet

Wallet typeWhat you do
Embedded wallet (email or social login)Thirdfy can complete many signing steps inside Console when policy allows
External wallet (MetaMask, etc.)You sign the delegation grant and some execution steps in your wallet extension

External wallets may need an extra signing step per write. Command and the Delegations tab show when manual signing is required.

Mandate and policy

Your mandate is the rule set for delegated execution:

  • Which action types are allowed (swap, earn, venue setup, and similar catalog actions)
  • Chain and venue boundaries
  • Amount and notional limits where applicable
  • Time bounds and revocation

Thirdfy checks the mandate on every write. A bad or out-of-scope intent is blocked before your wallet signs an execution transaction.

Delegation status

StatusMeaning
ActiveWrites can proceed when policy and balance allow
ExpiredTime limit reached. Set up delegation again to resume writes
RevokedYou removed authority. Writes stop until you delegate again

You can revoke delegation from the Delegations tab or your wallet tooling. Revocation takes effect for new writes immediately.

Agent delegations

The Delegations tab also shows agents you delegated to outside Console chat: deposited value, agent count, and per-agent bindings when you use Thirdfy agent products.

This is separate from Command itself. Command is the Thirdfy operator. Agent delegations cover registered agents you chose to fund or authorize.

Venue setup after delegation

Delegation unlocks governed writes. Some venues still need their own funding or credentials before orders go through:

VenueExtra step (after delegation)
HyperliquidFund the perps account via Bridge2
LighterComplete Lighter account setup when you first trade
PolymarketFund prediction balance and complete market credentials

Use Positions to confirm balances. Ask Command to check venue readiness if a write is blocked.

What happens on each execution

  1. You or an automation asks for an action (for example swap 10 USDC within the mandate).
  2. Thirdfy validates delegation, limits, credits, and venue readiness.
  3. Your wallet signs the execution transaction when compliant.
  4. Usage is recorded and balance or free requests are updated.

Each execution is validated individually. Out-of-policy requests never reach your wallet.
